Animal Reiki
Frequently Asked Questions
Reiki offers a safe, gentle way to support your pet’s wellbeing. Whether they are anxious, recovering,
or simply in need of calm, Reiki meets them where they are. Every animal responds in their own way, and the session always respects their comfort and choices. Here are answers to some common questions.
General Questions
Q: What is Reiki for pets?
A: Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that helps pets relax, reduce stress, and support overall wellbeing.
Q: How does it help pets?
A: Reiki can calm anxiety, ease tension or discomfort, support recovery, and promote emotional balance. It’s particularly beneficial for rescue animals, senior pets, or pets experiencing stress, change, or post-surgery recovery.
Q: Is Reiki safe?
A: Yes! Reiki is safe for pets of all ages and health conditions and complements veterinary care.
Q: Can Reiki replace veterinary care?
A: No. Reiki is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical treatment. Always consult your veterinarian for health concerns.

In-Person Reiki Sessions
Q: What happens during an in-person session?
A: I visit your home so your pet feels safe and relaxed in their own space. Your pet is free to move around, sit, or lie down in whatever way feels most comfortable within the area you’ve set aside for the session. Reiki energy is gently offered either from a short distance or through light hand placements. Your pet is always in control, and the session flows at their pace, in the way they are most comfortable receiving the energy.
Q: How long is a session?
A: Sessions usually last 30–50 minutes, depending on your pet’s needs and comfort level.
Q: Do I need to do anything?
A: No. Your pet simply needs to be present and relaxed. Some pets may nap, stretch, or show subtle signs of energy shifting.
Q: How often should my pet have Reiki?
A: It depends on your pet’s needs. Some benefit from a single session, while others may new a few sessions for ongoing support, stress relief, or behavioural assistance.
Q: What if my pet is anxious or unwell?
A: Reiki is especially helpful for anxious, nervous, or unwell pets. I work at their pace, respecting their comfort and boundaries at all times.
Distance Reiki Sessions
Q: Can Reiki be done remotely?
A: Yes! Distance Reiki works just like an in-person session, but without me being physically present. At the agreed time, I connect energetically with your pet and send Reiki, usually with the support of crystals to enhance the healing. You can simply create a calm space where your pet can rest, though they may also choose to move around or nap as the energy flows. Reiki energy is received in the way that feels best for your pet, supporting relaxation, stress reduction, and overall wellbeing—no matter where you are.
Q: How do I prepare my pet?
A: Ensure your pet is in a calm, comfortable space where they can relax. Distance sessions can be completed with or without your presence — you may stay nearby, offer gentle reassurance, or simply allow your pet to rest quietly.
Q: Will my pet feel the Reiki?
A: Many pets show visible signs of relaxation, such as stretching, yawning, napping, or calm behaviour. Some responses are subtle, but your pet is still receiving the healing energy, regardless of their activity level.
Q: Can I be present during the session?
A: Absolutely! You can stay with your pet, offer gentle reassurance, or simply observe from a distance. Your presence can help your pet feel safe and supported.
Q: How often should my pet have distance Reiki?
A: Similar to in-person sessions, it depends on your pet’s needs. Some benefit from a single session, while others may need a few sessions for ongoing support.
