Reiki is a gentle, heart-centred practice that supports balance, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. Each session is unique, and your experience may differ from others — but Reiki always flows for your highest good. Below are some common questions to help you understand what to expect.

General Questions

Q: What is Reiki?

A: Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that uses life force energy to support balance and wellbeing. The practitioner acts as a conduit for this energy, guiding it with intention to flow where it’s needed most in the body, mind and spirit.

Q: How does Reiki help people?

A: Reiki can ease stress and tension, calm the mind, support emotional balance, and promote physical and energetic harmony. When your body’s energy pathways are flowing freely, it can help support overall health and wellbeing. Many people find Reiki especially helpful during times of change, recovery, or when seeking a deeper sense of peace. During a session, you may feel a gentle wave of calm, warmth, or lightness as the energy flows where it’s needed most.

Q: Is Reiki safe?

A: Yes! Reiki is safe for people of all ages and health conditions. It works alongside conventional medical and psychological care without interfering.

Q: Can Reiki replace medical care?

A: No. Reiki is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider for health concerns.

In-Person Reiki Sessions

Q: What happens during an in-person session?

A: Sessions take place in my calm, comfortable home reiki studio where you can fully relax. You remain fully clothed and lie on the treatment table while Reiki energy is gently offered through light hand placements or just above the body.

 

Q: How long is a session?

A: A standard session lasts 45–60 minutes, depending on your needs and comfort. Extended 90 minute sessions are also offered.

Q: Do I need to do anything?

A: No special preparation is required however it’s best to avoid alcohol or caffeine on the day of your session. Simply wear comfortable clothing and come with an open mind. Allowing yourself some quiet time afterwards can also help you integrate the benefits.

 

Q: How often should I have Reiki?

A: This depends on your needs. Some people feel a shift after one session, while others benefit from a series of sessions or regular treatments to support deeper healing.

Q: What if I feel anxious or unwell?

A: Reiki can be especially supportive during times of stress, anxiety, or illness. The session will always be tailored to your comfort and needs.

Distance Reiki Sessions

Q: Can Reiki be done remotely?

A: Yes! Distance Reiki works just like an in-person session, without needing to be physically present. It’s ideal for people who are time-poor and can also support a deeper sense of relaxation, as you remain in your own space and can fully focus on receiving the energy. At the agreed time, I connect with you energetically and send Reiki, using crystals to support and enhance the healing.

Q: How do I prepare for a distance session?

A: Create a quiet, comfortable space where you can sit or lie down without interruptions. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and allow yourself some time to relax before the session begins. It’s best to avoid alcohol or caffeine on the day of your session. You may like to play gentle music, light a candle, or simply rest quietly. Reiki will flow naturally, and your body will receive the energy in the way that’s most supportive for you.

Q: Will I feel the Reiki?

A: Many people notice sensations such as warmth, tingling, or waves of calm. Others simply feel peaceful or deeply relaxed. The experience is unique for everyone, and Reiki is always received in the way that serves you best.

Q: Can I meditate or rest during the session?

A: Absolutely. You may choose to rest quietly, meditate, or even nap—whatever feels most natural. The Reiki will flow regardless of what you are doing.

Q: How often should I have distance Reiki?

A: Similar to in-person sessions, it depends on your personal needs. Some people book a single session for relaxation, while others find a few sessions or regular treatments helpful for ongoing balance, support and greater healing.
